There are more turkey crafts projects available to choose from that you can imagine and sometimes it is tough to pick just one for the holidays. Whether you are merely a huge fan of the gobblers or if it’s just that time of the year again, the theme of the day is turkey!
Figuring Time Involved:
The first and most important thing for your turkey crafts is to decide upon the scale of you project. Do you only need something to entertain the kids? Or maybe you need to make a supreme turkey artwork that rivals the great artists? Or maybe you just need a centerpiece for you table? When deciding on the scale of your project always double the amount of time you think it'll take as a rule of thumb before starting work. It can take a while to prepare for and then clean up after your crafting activities.
Creating a Turkey Hand Print
We can't really give you specific tips on creating a masterpiece of turkey art, but we can give some simple ideas for how to build a fun and entertaining craft project. Try starting with the basics. The turkey hand print.
Almost everyone knows how these simple designs are made. Simply trace your hand's outline and add a beak and eyes to the thumb. You can, of course, keep adding details such as turning the other fingers into feathers and coloring depending on how much effort you want to put in on this turkey crafts project.
An interesting variation on this would be to draw the bird's head from the front and use hand prints in different colors to represent the tail feathers. This is a more kid oriented craft project, but it is a classic.
Creating a Pine Cone Turkey
A more useful craft is to make a Pine Cone Turkey. Create the body of the turkey from the pine cone. Add a head and some material other materials for the tail feathers. The feathers can be made from paper or pipe cleaner. Just use whatever you have on hand. As for the head it would be great if you had some of those plastic eyes they sell at craft stores, but again you can just improvise with whatever you have on hand at the time.
Another variation on this turkey crafts project is to use potatoes for the body. These make great decorations to lay around the house or give away as presents. In fact, you can use most any material depending on the need, such as using a balloon. Try taping on the pieces feather and eyes if you want them to float around the room. Do this very gently as you could pop the balloon!
There is no real end to the number of turkey crafts you can make for and during your holiday celebrations. Perhaps the best advice we can give you is to try thinking up your own unique ideas. A turkey is symbolized by its round egg shaped body, giant tail feathers, and bald, beaked head with jowls. It is also red, brown, yellow and in general earthen colored. Any idea you have can be turkey crafts themed just by adding those details. For practice, try finding the simplest way to represent a turkey with the least details.
Whether it is using a basket for the body and adding a folded paper head and feathers, or using an inflated paper bag and painting a turkey face on it, the main color scheme and features of the turkey are all you need for a good turkey crafts project.
